How the NEET paper is marked

All 180 questions are compulsory — there has been no optional Section B since 2025. Biology is 90 questions, but it is two 45-question halves, Botany and Zoology, and ViJEEta keeps them apart because the paper does.
That last line is the whole of NEET guessing strategy: with +4/−1, a question you can push above 20% confidence is worth attempting, and one you cannot is worth leaving. ViJEEta's mastery estimate is guessing-corrected precisely so it cannot flatter you into the wrong side of that line.
Pattern source, carried verbatim from the constants the app grades with: NTA 2025/26 pattern — 180 compulsory, no Section B. That same registry records an unresolved conflict on the duration — one source gives longer than the 2025 bulletin's 180 minutes — and we have not checked it against the official 2026 bulletin, so treat the duration as the one number on this page that is not confirmed.

NEET's Biology questions are two separate equal halves — Botany and Zoology. ViJEEta keeps them apart because the paper does, and because a student is rarely equally ready in both.

The gaps are listed here, near the top, rather than left for you to discover:
- Chapter weightage: not measured. The JEE weights are read from a per-subject weightage file that ships with the JEE bank, carrying each chapter's weight and the question count behind it. No such file exists for NEET. Every weightage number on this site comes from that one source, and every chapter without one reads "—".
- Percentile and rank: not offered. NEET has no ViJEEta-fitted percentile curve, and we never borrow another exam's. A score without a curve is shown as a score, not as a rank.
- Difficulty calibration is partial. 84% of the NEET bank carries a measured IRT difficulty; the rest is served without adaptive targeting, and this page will say so until it changes.
- A single NEET readiness score: not computed yet. The JEE /300 is a weighted sum — Σ chapter_weight × mastery — so it follows directly from the first bullet that there is no NEET number to show. NEET carries the real paper's scale of 720 and per-chapter mastery is measured today, but the headline score arrives only when the weights underneath it do. The app deliberately shows no NEET readiness band for exactly this reason.
What you do get for NEET today is per-chapter mastery on real evidence, from chapters you have actually answered questions in — never a number for a chapter you have not touched. How the readiness score works sets out the same rules for JEE.
