Maths Olympiad (IOQM) on ViJEEta — the bank, the marking, and the gaps
The Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics — 30 integer answers, no negative marking, nothing to guess at. Free, in the browser or the Android app.
How the IOQM paper is marked
| Section | Questions | Marking | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Section 1 | 10 | +2 each | 20 |
| Section 2 | 10 | +3 each | 30 |
| Section 3 | 10 | +5 each | 50 |
| Total | 30 | — | 100 |
Every answer is an integer from 00 to 99 — there are no options to eliminate, and no negative marking. Two consequences follow directly, and neither is opinion:
A blind guess on a 5-mark question is worth about 0.05 marks — small, but strictly better than the zero a blank pays. The real consequence is the other way round: because there is nothing to eliminate, a partially-remembered method scores exactly the same as no method at all. That is why ViJEEta's olympiad mastery is not an MCQ-style estimate.
Pattern source, carried verbatim from the constants the app grades with: MTA/HBCSE IOQM pattern; RMO/INMO are proof-based, never auto-graded.
The full IOQM marking scheme →Chapters, by subject
1,256 of those questions are gradeable and served across 5 chapters — a chapter needs at least 10 gradeable questions before it gets a page here, so this list is shorter than a syllabus and longer on substance.
What ViJEEta has NOT measured for IOQM
The gaps are listed here, near the top, rather than left for you to discover:
- Chapter weightage: not measured. The JEE weights are read from a per-subject weightage file that ships with the JEE bank, carrying each chapter's weight and the question count behind it. No such file exists for IOQM. Every weightage number on this site comes from that one source, and every chapter without one reads "—".
- Percentile and rank: not offered. IOQM has no ViJEEta-fitted percentile curve, and we never borrow another exam's. A score without a curve is shown as a score, not as a rank.
- Difficulty calibration is partial. 22% of the IOQM bank carries a measured IRT difficulty; the rest is served without adaptive targeting, and this page will say so until it changes.
- A single IOQM readiness score: not computed yet. The JEE /300 is a weighted sum — Σ chapter_weight × mastery — so it follows directly from the first bullet that there is no IOQM number to show. IOQM carries the real paper's scale of 100 and per-chapter mastery is measured today, but the headline score arrives only when the weights underneath it do. The app deliberately shows no IOQM readiness band for exactly this reason.
What you do get for IOQM today is per-chapter mastery on real evidence, from chapters you have actually answered questions in — never a number for a chapter you have not touched. How the readiness score works sets out the same rules for JEE.
