Using NTA Abhyas and official CBT mocks on a laptop
The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the mobile National Test Abhyas app for Android and iOS, and hosts its official desktop computer-based test practice portal at nta.ac.in/Quiz (no affiliation with ViJEEta). Because JEE Main is sat at a desktop monitor with a mouse, sitting your 3-hour papers on a laptop browser rather than a 6-inch phone screen prevents exam-day interface shock.
1. Where to find NTA's official desktop mock screen
Instead of installing an Android emulator on Windows or Mac to run the mobile Abhyas APK, open NTA's official web mock portal directly at nta.ac.in/Quiz. That portal shows the exact five palette states, the SAVE & NEXT rule and the on-screen numeric keypad used in exam centres.
2. Why the SAVE & NEXT habit must be trained on a laptop
In the official NTA CBT interface, clicking an option radio button (1, 2, 3 or 4) and then clicking another question number in the right-hand palette does not save your answer: the question turns orange-red (Not Answered). Your choice is recorded only when you click the green SAVE & NEXT button or the orange SAVE & MARK FOR REVIEW button.
3. What to do after sitting an Abhyas or past shift paper
A raw score out of 300 tells you what happened, not what to study tomorrow. After any full paper, sort your wrong and unattempted questions into two buckets:
- High-weight chapter gaps: Chapters in the top third of the measured JEE weightage table where you missed even a moderate question. Sit a 25-question adaptive chapter test on that chapter first.
- Negative-marking clusters: 30-minute windows where you guessed or rushed through calculation steps.
