Is there a calculator in the JEE Main CBT?

No. There is no virtual on-screen calculator inside the JEE Main computer-based test, and physical calculators are strictly prohibited in the exam hall. In the Section B numerical-value questions, you enter your integer answer using an on-screen numeric keypad (digits 0–9, Backspace, Clear), not a calculator.

Why did some 2026 articles say JEE Main had a calculator?

When the initial draft of the JEE Main 2026 Information Bulletin was uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA), an appendix briefly mentioned an on-screen standard calculator. Within 24 hours, NTA issued a formal corrigendum and revised Information Bulletin removing that clause and confirming that no virtual calculator would be available in JEE Main (unlike GATE).

How ViJEEta's CBT player handles numericals

Because NTA withdrew the calculator, ViJEEta's JEE Main and JEE Advanced CBT runners provide only the official on-screen numeric entry keypad for Section B questions and never include a calculator button. Practising numericals without a calculator trains you to spot cancellation, standard logarithm approximations (ln 2 ≈ 0.693, √2 ≈ 1.414, √3 ≈ 1.732) and unit-digit checks under timed pressure.
